Dixit Dominus

Sunday, May 16 at 8:00 pm
Freewill offering

The Gallery Choir and Baroque Players of the Church of St. John the Evangelist present G. F. Handel's virtuosic setting of Psalm 109 Dixit Dominus. It was composed in 1707 during Handel's time in Italy. The music is Handel's earliest surviving autograph, and reveals the young composer's passion and raw intensity of spirit.

Also featured in this concert will be works by two of England's seminal composers, William Byrd and Henry Purcell.
