An Advent Study: The Bible and Economic Justice—part of The Anglican Communion Project, “The Bible in the Life of the Church” In 2009 the Anglican Consultative Council under the guidance of the Archbishop of Canterbury began the “The Bible in the Life of the Church” project.” This project is intended to explore the many different ways in which the Bible is read throughout the Anglican Communion. The Rev’d Dr. Ellen Aitken is a member of the regional group for North America for the project, and will lead this Advent Study, as a set of Bible Studies. The theme of this part of the project is the Bible and Economic Justice and engages several texts from different parts of the Bible. On each of the three evenings we will discuss two or three texts together and exchange our observations.
Three sessions:
- Nov. 30 On worship and economics: Isaiah 58 and 1 Corinthians 11:17–34
- Dec. 7 The Bible and global economic powers: Ezekiel 27:1–36 and Revelation 18
- Dec. 14: Women, poverty, and God: Proverbs 31:20-31, Luke 1:39–58, and Acts 16:11–2
