After reading my comments I realized I neglected to identify where I now reside and the location of my church. I attend St. Paul's Episcopal in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Our wonderful Rector is Rev.Canon Katherine G.L. Harrington. I also did not mention that your web site is outstanding. I visit it frequently to keep my connection with St. John's fresh in my memory. Thank you for the opportunity to revisit St. John 's and to recapture memories of my childhood at St. Michaels Mission and St john's as well. |

I was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John's and a remember fondly my early childhood experiences with the Sisters at St Michael's Mission on Dorchester St. I have been blessed with a wonderful life, a fine education, gifted children and grandchildren.
I am a very active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church having served two terms on the Vestry and involved in several outreach initiatives. As I write this message I reflect upon those wonderful memories at St Michael's. Skating parties at Dufferin Park across from the Mission followed with baked potatoes Mr Gunn would prepare for us in the tiny kitchen area in the basement. Sister Christine was just wonderful and always complementing us when hearing of our school accomplishments. Anyway, felt compelled to jot a few memories when viewing the site for the first.

I came to your site in search of Guy Melfort Drummond, who died at Ypres in 1915. His mother Julia Parker Drummond was a parishioner of St. John's. An impressive website, with truly a sense of community. I shall visit you on my next trip to Montreal. |

Goog .day
Ipass often or often ^..pass by your church when I a m on the Ontario bus 125.
I would like to visit one day.
I a m looking for a church with some semblance to Catholisism and .a Curch that does not juge people as far as how they look and .dress.
I a m not that bad but many people have made rather rude comments as to my look s or lack of them. and of course as to my way of dressing. I .hope to see you soon from Richard |

I have just returned from living in the U.K for many years. I as a catholic was not a member of your parish per say but always enjoyed worshiping there. When I worked in the City of London, I would attend services at St. Magnus Martyr and would often think of you at St. John's. Look forward to seeing you again this holy week. God bless. |

This is one of the best church websites I've seen. Often they are too confusing or trying to be too "hip". Bravo. Found you because I was trying to find directions to St. Benoit de Nursie Orthodox church. I am going to come to your service tomorrow instead.
Thanks! |

Dear everyone at St. John's, I was just looking over the calendar. This is just a quick note to say thank you for all that you do, and that I miss being among you in the Gallery Choir.
All the best,

My Grandparents were active members of St John fron the time of Fr Wood until they passed away in the 50's. My Grand father J.L.Dugan was a choir member for in excess of 60 years and my grand Mothe Beatrice Mary Dugan was long time Choir mother. There is a plaque on the north wall dedicated tothe memory of my uncle CplJames Lennox Dugan who was killed in action at Vimy Ridge March 1st 1917. It was a pleasure to find the church web site.

I just thought I would look for any information about the church tonight. I was married in this church back in 1967 but a few years later moved to Toronto. It's nice to see it's still thriving and alive. |

I have recently been sorting through some old things of my grandfathers and have enjoyed reading the old histories of the church that were written in 1928 and 1961. My family, the Dugans, were associated with the church from its inception to some time in the 1950's when my grandparents started attending St.Matthews in Hampstead (and so those are where my childhood memories are). I also have some old letters that Edmund Wood wrote to my grandfather in the period of 1905-1909 as he was a young member of the church choir (he sang in the choir for about 47 years) and attended the school (his name is George Ancrum Dugan). I believe there is a brass plaque in memory of my great-uncle, James Lennox Dugan Jr, who was killed at Vimy in 1917 on the wall of the church. I would be interested in knowing if it is still there. Also, I think there is a reference to the Dugan Family in a memorial book that was done at the installation of the present organ? I have become quite interested in the church history with this reading and my grandfather's keepsakes and hope that sometime in the near future that I will be able to visit the building. My great grandfather, James Lennox Dugan Sr, sang in the choir for at least 65 years although I cannot seem to confirm when he actually stopped (he died in 1952). Thanks. |

I was a temporary "member" of the St John's community in the summer of 1972, when Fr Slattery was rector, and Mr Wolff sat at the organ. I was a seminarian from Sewanee, Tennessee, taking a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Montréal General, and was delighted to be allowed to stay in one of the rooms in the former convent building.
I assisted at Mass almost every Sunday, and was privileged to be invited into the pulpit on the Nativity of St John Baptist that summer.
I am so pleased that the community still thrives, and will keep you all in my prayers. |

Thank you for such a prayerful, centering service. I am a Roman Catholic, and my partner Les is Anglican. We so enjoy the service at St. John's, and have visited on numerous occasions. We are currently relocating permanently from the US to Montreal, and hope to make St. John's our parish home.
Sincerely,
Mike Ellis |
