L’ensemble Zoroastre is composed of some fifteen students from the Conservatoire de musique de Québec under the leadership of  Hermel Bruneau, their professor of Baroque Music. Under the direction of cellist and arranger Simon Desbiens, the Ensemble will join sopranos Marjolaine Horreaux and Hélène Claise, tenor Emmanuel Bernier, and barytone-bass Léo McKenna.  The singers, from the Music Conservatories of Bordeaux, Québec and Montréal, and from the Faculté de musique de Montréal, collaborated for a first time with the Ensemble Zoroastre in Holy Trinity Cathedral in Quebec City, a venue with fine acoustics for Baroque Music.

Putting together a story from choice excerpts of the operatic repertoire of Jean-Philippe Rameau  (1683-1764), the singers will personify in turn characters and choir members in order to act out and comment the action of this Opéra Imaginaire. Moreover, instrumental interludes will show forth this fine French Baroque Music.  Love, a bit of madness, and some mythology will grace this musical adaptation of excerpts ofDardanus, Platée, and Les Indes Galantes.
